Amy Sohn was born in 1973 in Roosevelt Hospital in Manhattan, Raised in Brooklyn Heights where she still lives today. Amy writes in a very blunt language which is the primary reason for the many hate mails she has received over the year at New York Press. But on the other hand it is the same language that has made her a very popular author and columnist.
At first Amy Sohn tried out as an actress that got her an appearance in an episode of Law and Order. In 1996 she became a columnist for the New York Press, writing her autobiographical female trouble column, about dating. She then moved on to write a column at the New York Post where she kept her provocative tone and enraged management by comparing New York mayor Giuliani to Hitler.
She grew up with a five year younger brother and she is now married to Charles Miller with whom she has a daughter. Amy Sohn found a lot of inspiration for the novel Prospect Park West being with her daughter in Park Slope’s playgrounds, although she used to role her eyes about all the strollers clogging the sidewalks there.
