Donna Tartt is an award winning American writer. She has not been very productive with only one new book published every ten years. The quality however has pleased both the critics and readers as she has won WH Smith Literary award for ”The Little Friend”, the Pullitzer Prize for fiction for her novel ”The Goldfinch” and been a New York Times bestselling author.

Her novels has been published in numerous countries ranging from cold north Finland to warm south of Italy and Spain and from USA in the west, to Russia in the east.

Donna Tartt, daughter of Don and Taylor Tartt was born in Greenwood, Mississippi and raised just nearby in Grenada. Early on it became clear that Donna had a talent for writing and she began writing her first book ”The Secret History” in 1982, before even graduating from Bennington College. In Bennington she became friends with fellow students Bret Easton Ellis, Jill Eisenstadt, and Jonathan Lethem (all successful writers). Donna Tartt graduated in 1986 and with a little help from her friend Brett Ellis who recommended Donnas work to a literary agent she had ”The Secret History” published in 1992.
