Elizabeth George, popular for her thriller has 23 novels published to her credit. Her novel ‘Playing for the Ashes’ was New York Times best sellers. Her works got translated in 21 languages.

Born in Warren, Ohio, Elizabeth had a passion for writing from a very young age. Her parents Robert Edwin and Anne were interested in literature. Elizabeth’s family moved to San Francisco Bay Area when she was eighteen months old. Elizabeth’s brother Robert Rivelle George is also an author. Unlike other kids, Elizabeth showcased her talent by writing small stories and poetry when she was 7 years old.

Elizabeth completed her masters in Counseling/ Psychology from California State University at Fullerton. She was awarded Doctorate of Humane Letters from the same University. Elizabeth started her career as a teacher and also continued her passion for writing.

When Elizabeth’s first novel ‘A Great Deliverance (The Detective Lynley Series)’ became a huge success in 1988, she left her teaching profession to concentrate more on writing knowing that was her cup of tea. The series of novels featuring Inspector Thomas Lynley became popular to many as ‘The Inspector Lynley Mysteries’ series in TV. Eleven novels written by Elizabeth were filmed by BBC and broadcasted on PBS’ MYSTERY in U.S.

Novels written by Elizabeth depict Great Britan and the language so perfectly that it is hard for many of her fans to believe that she is from U.S. Elizabeth credits her love towards England as the reason why she started to read Shakespeare which obviously reflects in her novels. All her novels are so unique for the fact that the places portrayed in it are actually visited by her. Elizabeth does her research before she puts anything on paper.

Elizabeth had won many awards; important among them was Germany’s MIMI award for novel ‘Well-Schooled in Murder’. Writer John Fowles books influence her. Besides writing, Elizabeth also teaches creative writing for students in Maui once in a year. She likes to keep her fans updated on her works via facebook and twitter.
