Julie Kibler became an author through her debut novel, ‘Calling Me Home’ which was published by St. Martin’s Press during Feb 2013. The same book was also published by Pan MacMillan in New Zealand and Australia in Mar 2013 and in UK in Jun 2013. Julie’s debut novel was so successful that the translation rights for the same were sold in 14 additional foreign territories.
The idea of drafting the novel came to Julie’s mind after hearing the story of her lovable grandmother from none other than her dad. The true story of her grandmother falling in love with a black man and how their families split them apart made a huge impact on Julie and thus she wished to create a novel with this concept.
Julie, who currently lives in Arlington, Texas, originally grew up in Kentucky, New Mexico and Colorado. She moved to Texas for her higher studies and stayed there because she loved the nature of the people there. She found it good that people in Texas were friendly even to strangers. Julie has also written a memoir, ‘Final Sale in tires’, which is a true story about her relationship with one of her other grandmother.
When Julie Kibler is not writing, she enjoys reading, hearing folk music, photography and splitting chocolatery desserts with her husband. Julie is also a freelance editor who looks after her family and a couple of dogs.
