Karen White is an American author who was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her family moved a lot whilst she was growing up, so she spent parts of her childhood in various different states as well as periods in London, England and in Venezuela. She finished her schooling in London and then went on to attend Tulane University in New Orleans to study towards a BS in Management. She worked in the world of business for a decade before pursuing her dream to write a book.

In the Shadow of the Moon, her first book, was published in the summer of 2000. It shortlisted for two separate Romance Writers of America RITA Award. Her 2009 novel, The Girl on Legare Street and her 2010 novel, On Folly Beach, were both New York Times Bestseller list. She has now published more than 20 different novels, most of which are completely standalone. In 2008, she published The House on Tradd Street, the first in the Tradd Street series of novels. This series centres on a woman who has the ability to see ghosts. She meets a man who is obsessed with investigating unsolved cases and together they aim to get to the bottom of unexplained mysteries.

Karen White is married and she and her husband have two children. The family live in Georgia, near Atlanta, with their two dogs. Her books are currently published by Penguin and she has more novels planned for the next few years. When she is not working, White enjoys reading other people’s novels. She is also a keen pianist and scrapbooker.
