Mary E. Pearson is an American author who was born in Southern California in 1955. She attended Long Beach State University and graduated with a BFA in Art. After graduating she worked as a professional artist before the birth of her first daughter. She later attended San Diego State University to study for a teaching qualification. It was while she was working as a teacher that she decided to write a book.

Mary E. Pearson has written a total of 11 novels and 6 picture books. The Miles Between was celebrated as one of the Kirkus Best Books of the Year, The Adoration of Jenna Fox was recognized as one of the Bank Street Best Children’s Books of the Year and a Library Journal Best Book of the Year. A Room on Lorelei Street was awarded the Golden Kite Award for Fiction in 2006. There are also plans to adapt The Adoration of Jenna Fox into a film in the near future.

The original idea for her New York Times bestselling novel The Adoration of Jenna Fox came from Pearson’s own very personal experience as a mother. When her daughter was diagnosed with cancer, she started to think about the lengths that a parent might go to in order to save their child. This was the original idea which sparked the whole novel.

Mary E. Pearson is married and has two grown-up daughters. She lives with her husband and two golden retrievers in San Diego and works as a full time writer.
