Sara Raasch: Biography

Sara Raasch

Sara Raasch is the American author of the bestselling Snow Like Ashes Trilogy.

Raasch has named Sharon Shinn’s Twelve Houses series as the most important literary influence on her and her own writing. She found the world and the characters in the novels so real and the process of reading them so immersive that this is what she strived to create in her own books. She wanted to be able to totally immerse her readers in a different universe. She has also spoken about the bromance created by Mercedes Lackey in her book The Sleeping Beauty which inspired her to work a realistic bromance into her own books. She has also said that music is incredibly important to her and her writing, with the song Can You See Me? By Krista Siegfrids being particularly relevant to the third book in the trilogy for her.

Snow Like Ashes is the story of a conquered kingdom which has been left without magic or monarchy. The only hope for the kingdom lies with its only 8 surviving escapees who have been living as refugees ever since. The first two books in the trilogy, Snow Like Ashes and Ice Like Fire, have been New York Times bestsellers and the third, Frost Like Night, is due for publication in 2016.

Sara Raasch is married and lives in Manassas, Virginia with her husband and their cat, which is called Ezio after the character from Assassin’s Creed. She is now a full time author of YA fantasy novels.
