Sarah Addison Allen, alias Katie Gallagher, is a successful American novelist who was born and raised in Asheville, North Carolina. As a kid, she daydreamed of becoming a trash man but soon realized her love for writing after graduating with a degree in Literature from the University of North Carolina at Asheville.

During her struggling period, Sarah Addison Allen tried following what she thought to be the market trends but could sell nothing for 12 long years. Proving to be an epitome of "better late than never," she started writing on the topics of her interest and ditched the market trends. This proved to be a turning point in her career and "Garden Spells" happened.

Sarah Addison Allen admits of being a huge fan of the genre "magical realism" since her college days, so much that she describes her books as "Southern-fried magic realism." Today her kitty is full with 2 million books in print, each being translated into 30 languages for her fans around the globe. Among her bestselling books are Garden Spells (2007), The Sugar Queen (2008), The Girl Who Chased the Moon (2010), and The Peach Keeper (2011).

Sarah Addison Allen was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011. Being an emotionally strong women, she did not give up and completed a round of painful chemotherapy by October 2011. She came back in action for her love for writing in 2014 and "Lost Lake" happened, followed by "First Frost" in 2015. Besides writing, she loves cooking and posts appetizing recipes on her Facebook and Twitter accounts every week. And, to ensure her fans get a glimpse of her writing quite often, she posts short stories on her social-networking accounts.
