Stephenie Meyer is currently considered as one of the world’s bestselling writer of young adult fiction, especially the Vampire series, for which she is internationally known. She was born on December 24, 1973 in Connecticut and attended Brigham Young University where she majored in English literature. She had a passion for reading as a child and was greatly influenced by the works of Jane Austen, Charlotte Bronte and Margarete Mitchell. However, Stehpenie Meyer never thought of becoming a writer.

Her inspiration for writing her first book came from a dream and in a very short time she wrote her first novel, Twilight, which took the world by storm when it appeared in print in 2005. It was the first in the now world famous Vampire series which has sold over 250 million copies, translated into nearly 40 different languages and has been made into a very popular film series.

The major appeal of these books is to adolescent girls who are fascinated by the romance between a girl and a vampire boy. The response to the Vampire series has been phenomenal based on facts like the record-breaking number of weeks her novels were consistently featured on the New York Times bestsellers list, the number of times the author won the most popular writer award annually, and for her enormous fan base indicative of her worldwide fame and impact on her readers.

Stephenie Meyer is also a film producer and is also considered one of the richest and most powerful and influential women in the USA, based on the popularity and sales of her novels. She is married, has three sons and lives in Arizona.
